Origin and History
The Giant Poodle, a breed native to France and descendant of the Barbet, has historically been the pet of the aristocracy and the upper class. This is the progenitor of the medium, dwarf and toy varieties of the poodle.

 

Behavioral Characteristics
This breed is characterized by its loyalty, intelligence and energy. Although its appearance may suggest seriousness, the Poodle  Gigante is remarkably playful and sociable. In addition, it is quieter compared to its smaller variants  size and acts as a loyal guardian for your home and family.

 

Physical features
Size: Its height varies between 45 and 60 cm at the withers and its weight exceeds 22 kg.
-Life expectancy: Between 10 and 14 years, although this may vary depending on factors such as health and lifestyle.

-Activity: Requires regular exercise and daily walks.
-Coat Care: Needs specific maintenance due to its dense and curly coat.
-Hypoallergenic: Their fur minimizes the risk of allergies.

Recognition of the Arlequín Variety
The Harlequin Poodle, with white fur and colored spots, is beginning to gain recognition in some clubs, although it is not yet accepted by the International Cynological Federation (FCI). It should be noted that poodles were originally multicolored, and only in more recent times has solid-colored fur been favored.

 


Ranked as the second most intelligent dog in the world, the Giant Poodle is a versatile and loyal breed that adapts well to various situations and lifestyles. His combination of intelligence, loyalty and adaptability makes him an ideal companion.
